Festive Fun for Little Ones (and Grown Ups too!)

Children giggling, bubbles glistening, faces glittering and Santa and his little helper grooving to Baby Shark – what else could this be but the annual Home-Start Bradford District Christmas party for volunteers and families!

Santa and one of his elves took time out of their busy schedule to give gifts to the families in their magical grotto, with donations from LUSH and the Mothers Union at St Lawrence Pudsey Parish Church.

The Face Painter was kept busy with children and adults, while the DJ Elf put on the latest chart hits mixed with Christmas favourites. The little ones especially enjoyed dancing through the constant stream of bubbles.

We managed to catch up with volunteer, Tanya, who qualified as a volunteer earlier this year. She said: “Through volunteering, my confidence has definitely grown a lot, I’m learning new things, I’m learning new approaches on how to deal with things. The best part is knowing that you are helping someone – I could see that the mum I was supporting was getting calmer and less anxious each visit.”

This event could not happen without the generous gifting of children's toys and toiletries for parents and carers, the volunteers who wrap each of the presents and the staff who organise the party. A massive thank you to everyone involved, including Better Start Bradford for getting Santa and his Head Elf for us.
